One of the players that should draw interest on the waiver wire this week is outfielder Tyler Moore of the Washington Nationals, if for no other reason than his two home run game on Wednesday. Now granted, he was starting for Adam LaRoche who had the night off so it doesn’t look like he has a spot in the lineup right now. But current left fielder Steve Lombardozzi has been in a funk at the plate, hitting just .143 in June and he brings no power to the table. I think Moore is worth a definite look in NL-only formats.
Here is a look at some other players that might be out on the waiver wire in your fantasy baseball league in week 11 to consider adding with your FAAB budget or waiver claim.
American League Only:
SP – Erasmo Ramirez (SEA) – called up from Triple-A, he will get the start Thursday against the San Diego Padres. Ramirez had a 3.11 ERA in AAA in 37 2/3 innings with 29 strikeouts and a .260 batting average against. He had been better in his last three starts at Tacoma with four runs allowed in 21 1/3 innings. Ramirez appeared in the major leagues earlier this season in relief, posting a 2.45 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 11 innings. I would give him a look in AL-only formats if you are in need of starting pitching.
OF – Franklin Gutierrez (SEA) – just activated from the disabled list by the Mariners, Gutierrez is appearing in his first game of 2012 after missing time with a torn pectoral muscle. He hit .211 on rehab in Triple-A in 38 at bats with no home runs or stolen bases. Gutierrez hasn’t had any fantasy value since 2010, but in AL-only leagues where the pickings are slim, he might be worth a look.
SP – Jesse Chavez (TOR) – will likely get the call in the next day or two from Triple-A to replace Brandon Morrow in the rotation. Chavez had a 3.68 ERA with the Las Vegas 51s with 60 strikeouts in 63 2/3 innings of work. Chavez has done little to distinguish himself in past trips to the major leagues with a career 5.37 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in 158 innings.
National League Only:
RP – Shawn Camp (CHC) – he picked up his first save of the season yesterday, but that came on the heels of a blown save earlier last week. With no one dominant pitcher in the Cubs bullpen, he could get a few saves the rest of the season, despite his career ERA of 4.34 and WHIP of 1.44.
