2012 Two Start Pitchers – Week 9

There is one two-start pitcher spot up for grabs in week nine with Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Marco Estrada going on the disabled list. The team has the option of moving relief pitcher Manny Parra into the rotation, but that solution has not worked well in previous years with Parra as a starter. The other alternative would be to promote a pitcher from Triple-A, such as Wily Peralta or Michael Fiers, although neither of them have pitched exceptionally well this season.

Here is a look at the rest of the pitchers with two starts for week nine of the fantasy baseball season. The pitchers below are listed alphabetically and not in any type of ranked order.

American League:

Start them:

Chris Sale ~ @TB (Moore), SEA (Millwood)
Doug Fister ~ @BOS (Doubront), NYY (Kuroda)
Jered Weaver ~ NYY (Hughes), TEX (Harrison)
Justin Verlander ~ @BOS (Bard), NYY (Hughes)

Roll the Dice:

Felix Doubront ~ DET (Fister), @TOR (Drabek)
Kevin Millwood ~ @TEX (Harrison), @CWS (Sale)
Matt Harrison ~ SEA (Millwood), @LAA (Weaver)
Phil Hughes ~ @LAA (Weaver), @DET (Verlander)
Scott Diamond ~ OAK (Godfrey), @CLE (Tomlin)

Harrison has been better in his last four starts which has shaved 3/4 of a run off of his ERA. Hughes has pitched much better in May than he did in the early part of the season with a 3.45 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP.

Sit Them:

Daniel Bard ~ DET (Verlander), @TOR (Hutchison)
Drew Hutchison ~ BAL (Hunter), BOS (Bard)
Graham Godfrey ~ @MIN (Diamond), @KC (Adcock)
Josh Tomlin ~ KC (Adcock), MIN (Diamond)
Matt Moore ~ CWS (Sale), BAL (Hunter)
Nate Adcock ~ @CLE (Tomlin), OAK (Godfrey)
Tommy Hunter ~ @TOR (Hutchison), @TB (Moore)

Moore has one win in nine starts and has made it to the sixth inning just once in his last six outings. Tomlin is coming off of the disabled list and has already faced Kansas City twice this season, getting rocked in both starts. Bard has more walks than strikeouts on the season (29 to 28) and until he gets his control irnoned out, he is tough to start.

Cole Hamels ~ @NYM (Niese), MIA (Zambrano)
James McDonald ~ CIN (Arroyo), @MIL (TBD)

Milwaukee (TBD) ~ @LAD (Lilly), PIT (McDonald)

Nicasio has two home starts next week, where he has a 6.93 ERA and 1.86 WHIP for the season.
