The Minor League Report – New York Mets Triple-A Roster

Here is the minor league report for the 2010 Buffalo Bisons, the Triple-A affiliate for the New York Mets.

The key name to note on the roster is outfielder Fernando Martinez. Martinez starts the year as the New York Mets top prospect in Triple-A at 21-years-old. He has as career minor league batting average of .281 and still needs some work on his plate discipline, though given his age, he still has time to get that fixed. He had a nice spring training, hitting .383 with three home runs and 11 RBI in 47 at bats.

Another name to keep an eye on is first basemen Ike Davis.  Davis opened some eyes in spring training with his power hitting three home runs with 10 RBI in only 25 at bats. A first round pick in the 2008 draft, Davis has .284 batting average with 20 home runs in 644 minor league at bats. With only Mike Jacobs and Daniel Murphy in front of him, Davis has a much better chance of reaching the major leagues before Martinez does barring an outfield injury.

How they rank:

Baseball America: Martinez (3), Davis (4), Thole (8), Tejada (9)
Keith Law: Davis (3), Martinez (4), Thole (7)
John Sickels: Martinez (3), Davis (4), Tejada (10)
